Boors at Bethpage Black

Here's a different take on the recent action from Bethpage Black. Seems there were some literal and metaphorical wet blankets out at the US Open on the weekend.
TV commentators said the way to deal with the New York fans is to give them something. Show some emotion, give them a ball and win them over. That's called extortion. Whoever heard of paying hush money on a golf course? What's next, waking up with a horse's head in your bed? Why should anyone be nice to these boors?

  1. It does create some atmosphere around that par three though!

The biggest issue I have still revolves around the "Get in the hole" screeched out by every dimwit that has seen a ball hit regardless of the quality of the shot, it makes me want to turn off the t.v or at least watch with the sound down. This painfully constant ridiculous yelling is nearing the same levels of the terrible screeching in womens tennis that they apprently need to do during every shot or dare I say it the cringe value felt everytime I hear some moron yell out "aussie, aussie aussie, oi,.." (I can't even write it)!

Give us a break, if you happen to go to a golf tournament in the future and someone yells out that catch cry, please, please, punch them in the nose!!!!!!!

  2. I understand where you're coming from in your post but I think the commentators were looking at it from the point of view of players promoting their sport and their Tours rather than just buying fans off. We all know there are some players who go about their work with the demeanour of accountants. Just a little interaction goes a long way...
