"Your worst putt is always gonna be better than your worst chip".
I've been meaning to post this for a while 'cause it says something pretty obvious, but a mistake many golfers make. Particularly mid-to high handicappers.
If you are just off the green with a relatively smooth surface and no obstacles to clear, it is a very wise move to putt the ball. Many golfer's feel that putting from off the green is succumbing to an easy option, or a work-around to their chipping problems. The fact is the putting stroke is an easier stroke to make than a chip with far less room for error.
And if you don't believe me, former coach of Tiger Woods, Hank Haney will tell you so.
Very true but it's also important to ensure to have a smooth, clean area to putt through to get to the green surface.
ReplyDeleteIf there is any thick sort of grass where the golf ball could get tangled up in then a wedge is probably the better option.
