The last time the Australian Masters was played at Kingston Heath was in 2009 when Tiger Woods edged out Greg Chalmers to win by two shots. Everyone remember that year?
Last year Ian Poulter came to Australia looking for a victory and left with the golf jacket by beating Marcus Fraser by three shots at Victoria Golf Club. Ian Poulter is back this year to defend his title and former US Open winner Graeme McDowell make up the marquee international pairing.
Geoff Ogilvy is back in Australia looking to find some form that was lacking this year on the PGA Tour but going in aa second favourite behind Poulter will be Adam Scott.
The world number six is flushing the ball beautifully but despite using a long putter, it is Scott’s putting that is letting him down. If he tames the lightning quick Kingston Heath greens this week, he might be dressed in gold come Sunday afternoon.
