My golf’s better than my score! – More thoughts
Following on from the discussion we had last week on Aussie Golfer concerning when your golf is actually better than your score.
Avid reader Aaron David, commented on the post and decided to throw his own question into the discussion. I think it’s worth sharing once more:
If you feel you’ve hit the ball well but not scored well, do you feel better then if you hit the ball crap but managed a reasonable score?
It’s an interesting question and I can’t help but think I’d be happier with a better score from bad golf than thinking (even if not entirely true) that my golf game deserved a better score.
What do you think?

If you’ve hit the ball crap, but managed a reasonable score, doesn’t that just mean you’ve scrambled your ar$e off around the course.
If you haven’t scored well, how can you feel you’ve hit the ball well, as the result (score) isn’t showing that.
it’s all subjective really though.
Well the difference is, walking off and saying “I’ve got know idea how I managed to do that, felt like I hit the ball terrible, I’ll take the score but…”
Personally, I hit the ball the best I’ve hit it for sometime on the weekend, really happy with my ball striking and on three occasions I hit tee shots (not driver) to long into hazards that i thought i would not reach on par 4′s, so although i walked off thinking i possibly through away a good round, i also walked of very happy with most of my game and eager to play again as soon as i can!

Ultimately the score is everything. Any comments about how well the ball was struck is more about been positive about scoring well the next time you play.
I’ve struck the ball well for a long time with no good scores, I say bring on the ugly low round. herb
If I top my ball (on a per 3) and it rolls onto the green and into the hole, am I disappointed that I didn’t hit it that well? The card doesn’t ask how, just how many!!!

As for me, I’d rather play well than score well. Nothing is more frustrating than spraying it all over the place and not have a clue as how to get it back. Besides, I don’t tend to judge my golf by my score as much as the overall experience of the course, the weather and the playing partners.
A good laugh lasts a lot longer than a good score.
I prefer to hit the ball well rather than hacking my way around the coarse and some how coming out of it with a half decent score. I think I need a much more relaxed swing ?
