Adam Scott is looking to make amends by putting himself within reach of a in contention to win the final major of the year.
Play was suspended midway through the third round of the 2012 US PGA Championship as Vijay Singh and Rory McIlroy made an unlikely duo atop of the leaderboard.
McIlroy has surprised everyone. Since his victory at the 2011 US Open, he has barely registered in the Top-25 at the following five majors, but he fired off five birdies in the first 8 holes to hit the lead. Only a bogey before the thunderstorm hit saw him drop back to tie with Singh.
Vijay Singh has also surprised many too. Seemingly washed up on the US PGA Tour, Singh has been is pretty good form over the last few months.
Perhaps less surprisingly is the name Adam Scott just one shot behind Singh and McIlroy. Scott looked in complete control of his game with four birdies in the final five holes played on Saturday. It’s quite a remarkable feat to bounce back from the trials of Royal Lytham, but his game seems to be still in very good shape.
Tomorrow will see all players complete their third round before immediately going out to play the final round. The Ocean Course is by and large to be an oddity due to its links golf layout, with the options for bumping and running. Tomorrow’s final round(s) may well throw up some more surprises.
